India Post GDS July 2026 Job ProfileBranch Postmaster (BPM)The BPM is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Branch Post Office and India Post Payments Bank services. Duties include postal operations, marketing and promotion of Departmental products and services, customer service activities, mail conveyance and mail delivery where applicable. A selected BPM must arrange accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own cost and must reside in the post village. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)The ABPM performs duties including sale of stamps and stationery, conveyance and delivery of mail, IPPB deposits and payments, assisting the BPM in postal operations, marketing activities and other duties assigned by senior officers. ABPMs are required to reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned Post Office. Dak SevakDak Sevaks may be engaged in Post Offices, Sorting Offices, Mail Offices, Transit Mail Offices, Delivery Centres and other offices of the Department. Their duties may include handling and delivery of mail and parcels, sale of stamps and stationery, IPPB transactions, assistance in Post Office operations and other duties assigned by the concerned authorities.
